Button Maker
Button Maker :: Kalsey Consulting Group is a site that will let you build those little 80x15 buttons that are popular with Bloggers. I haven't put one in yet but I will. Just wanted to get us here so I don't forget the line :)
Knoppix
There is a Linux distro that I've just become aware of called Knoppix Linux. I don't know how I missed it but it is very cool if you are a Windows user like me. Basically, you write the ISO image to a CD then boot from that CD and presto, you are running Linux! Great for newbies. If you've ever attempted to run Linux you know that you have to repartition your hard drive and all that stuff. And dual booting is a mess if you are new because of the potential to wipe things out.
Now, having said all of that, this does run slooow if you have a slow CD-ROM. CD-ROMS are slow by nature but if you have an old one this is very painful.
On boot up the software runs through and discovers all your hardware and in a minute or 2 you'll see the KDE desktop. Then you are on your own to discover all that Linux has to offer. The CD even comes with OpenOffice 1.0 so you can explore opening your MS-Office files.
I first read about this while thumbing through a book called Moving to Linux.
I haven't spent a ton of time with this yet so I'll post more after I've had more time to put it through it's paces.

Index yourself
Rock Oliver, a true Lotus Geek, just wrote in his blog about keeping your Network Domain Index up to date. He means by this your associations both online and off regarding contacts in your field of employment. While he is a Lotus guy, this goes for all you geeks out there! :o)

Google News Alerts
Google News Alerts is a new service that Google is trying in Beta at the moment. It is pretty cool because you can set up a search and have Google mail you the results daily. Great for keeping tabs on things. Currently I have one set up for Lotus Domino and Seattle Seahawks . The Seahawks one handy because I don't live in Seattle but I can keep up on whats going on up there. I'll probably create a Padres one so I can keep track on what's up during the off season.
You can be notified once a day or as it happens. Personally I think once a day is plenty for most things.
