Google Desktop Search 1.0: New and much-improved
Google Desktop Search 1.0: New and much-improved. Finally out of beta (even though at this time the graphic still says beta).
Desktop Search now lets you find and store:
* PDF files
* Audio (MP3, WMA, WAV and more)
* Images (JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP and more)
* Videos (AVI, MPG, WMV and more)
* Email from Netscape 7.1+, Mozilla, and Thunderbird
* Web pages you've viewed using Netscape 7.1+, Mozilla and Firefox browsers
* Instant Message Chats – We're still the only desktop search that indexes and lets you search all your AOL Instant Messenger chats
There are now lots of plugins available from 3rd parties. Looks awsome. I haven't had a real chance to try everything out yet but hope to do so today. Look for an updated GDS page sometime this week.
I think it is probaby worth uninstalling the Beta version and strating fresh.

FYI - I asked Google they said via email:
"Thank you for your note. You do not have to uninstall our Beta version to install the newest version of Desktop Search. "
