Here is my fifth week homework. 

This is from another tutorial I found.  I had a bit of trouble selecting all of the indents until I used the Grow Selection tool.  Worked like a charm!

There are several tutorials available on making the Earth.  ALL of them have errors and leave out stuff that make it hard to get a good result. 

You need to get all three - one is on Maxon's site, one is on Renderosity's Cinema4D forum, and the other tutorial link can be found at www.cinema4duser.com.

Even with all of these tutorials I am still having problems with the shadow - it just isn't strong enough.

Here are the setting for the surface material.  There are two material - one called surface, one called Surface Specularity.  The final picture shows the object manager.
